Meet the Managing Artists of Pembroke 4 Art Gallery
Nancy Topping Bazin
Nancy was a professor of English before becoming a full-time artist. Her paintings have always reflected her passion for color. Increasingly, her art is also inspired by her fascination with patterns, whether created by humans or found in nature. Nancy has an ongoing exhibit at the Artists Gallery in Virginia Beach, and her paintings and drawings have been in many juried shows and galleries in this region. She is a member of the Tidewater Art Alliance, the Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists, and the Hampton and Suffolk art leagues. Nancy works in a variety of media — mostly, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, and acrylic.

Kay Dotson
Kay is an artist who focuses on realism, placing emphasis on seascapes, landscapes, and portraits. She prefers to work with oils and acrylics. Kay has participated in several national art shows and in local juried exhibits. Her prizes include Best in Show and Award of Excellence. Kay has an Associates Degree in Fine Arts from TCC and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Wesleyan College. She has also taken graduate-level art courses at Old Dominion University. Kay accepts commissions to paint clients’ homes, gardens, and portraits.

Sandra Starkey
Sandra has been painting in watercolors, acrylics, and oils since 1964. She was teaching watercolor and oil painting at Norfolk Collegiate School for 4 years. Sandra a past president of the Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists and past Art Show Coordinator . She now does the Newsletter for CBW. She is a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, The Watercolor Society of Alabama, and an active member of the Hampton Arts League. She also designed our brochure and website. Her paintings are full of color that seems to explode from her brush. Her art reflects her worldview. The universe is full of energy that she taps and arranges into dynamic paintings.

Eliabeth Dobbs Waitekus
In 1994, Elizabeth earned her B.A. in Fine Arts. After teaching art for twelve years at the Friends School in Virginia Beach, she is now a full-time artist. Elizabeth works in watercolors, acrylics, and oils. She has won a number of awards in miniature art exhibitions, and she founded the Sacred Art Circle, a local artists’ support group. She is most noted for her depiction of angels and the symbolic realms of the spiritual. She feels that, if seen with the “inner eye,” there is nothing in this world that is mundane or unholy.

William Campbell
Bill shifted from an award-winning career in advertising to fine art. Working primarily in pastels, he concentrates on landscapes, animals, and garden scenes, as well as subjects from his many travels. He is a member of the Artists Gallery, the Art Alliance, the Cultural Alliance, and AIGA (the professional design association). Currently, he chairs the Board of Trustees of the
Contemporary Art Center
of Virginia. He has participated in numerous group shows at area galleries, schools, libraries, and hospitals. Despite the soft colors suggested by the word “pastel,” Bill likes to make his paintings bold, rich explorations of pure pigment
